Nosotros Unidos

“Nosotros United” (All of “Us” United) is a new student-led club at Wood River High School. Their mission is to encourage the blending of cultures and ambitious dreams for all. The club has 41 members and was created by two long-time friends, Marisol Marquez and Grace Evans, who have been in the dual-immersion program in Blaine County since Kindergarten. They host events that encourage friendship and dialogue across cultures, aiming to make the Wood River Valley a welcoming and supportive home for everyone. Community discussions on race & diversity, cultural dances, and family carnivals are a sampling of their events. Additionally, all club members have ambitious post-secondary dreams and are committed to academic excellence. They attend weekly study club sessions, take AP and honors classes, and mentor middle school students. The grant will be used immediately to buy chess sets for 16 kids who don’t have sets and can practice at home. Also, they will use money for the chess tournament this month. For those of you who couldn’t attend, you can still support the Chess Club by sending a check for $100 made out to the Blaine
